Congratulations to Cara in Year 10, who at the Swim England National Meets managed to win a silver medal in the 400m freestyle, and went even further to win a gold medal in the 800m freestyle which made her the national champion of the 15-year old age group!

Cara had qualified to compete in ten events across the British Summer Championships and the Swim England National Meets, both taking place at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield in late July and early August. She also came fifth in her age group in the 3km Open Water Championships at Rother Valley Country Park just outside Sheffield.

Overall she raced a total of 7000m over the twelve days, achieved a personal best in all ten events, and managed to get through to six out of seven finals.

Her mother said: “Cara has worked extremely hard in her swimming this year and with her academics. I would like to thank the sports staff and of course her subject teachers for their continued support in helping Cara to achieve both in and out of the pool.”
