On Thursday 2nd November, RMS for Girls had the privilege of hosting alumna Carolyn Dawson, OBE, as she spent time inspiring our Sixth Form students.

Carolyn, who left RMS in 1996, is now the CEO of Founders Forum Group. This global community and consortium of businesses are deeply committed to nurturing and supporting entrepreneurs on their unique journeys. Carolyn’s passion lies in expanding the tech community’s horizons and ensuring its inclusivity for all.

My fondest memories of being at RMS were really that we were a family, day girls and boarders combined and despite the years passing, my RMS friends are some of my closest still today. We all took different paths, but have each excelled in our ways grounded by the values we gained from our time at RMS and also the belief that we could achieve anything we set our minds to which the school encouraged. There's never been any doubt in my mind that I have achieved what I have today thanks in large part to my time spent at RMS and with the teachers who nurtured me and friends who encouraged and supported me

During her visit, Carolyn inspired our Sixth Form with an informative and captivating lecture, titled ‘What would you do today if you had no fear?’, encouraging introspection and instilling a sense of courage in our students. In addition, she engaged in a stimulating student-led boardroom discussion, focusing on the ever-evolving landscape of AI and its growth prospects.

It was wonderful to come back and spend time with the girls at RMS. I was struck by their confidence, how articulate and thoughtful they were especially in our board discussion on AI and its future impact. Really delighted to see that the RMS ladies of today know their own minds and how to express them just as their predecessors did!
