Congratulations to Hattie in Year 12, who has been selected as a member of the UK-German Connection Youth Council.

The Youth Council is a consultation forum of young people from across the UK and Germany, who meet on a regular basis to develop ideas to bring young people from the two countries closer together. The Council is designed to represent a wide cross-section of society of both countries, with differing backgrounds, interests and experiences.

Hattie was selected after a rigorous application process and will now be actively involved in co-designing UK-German youth activities and generating new ideas for future UK-German Connect programmes. Her role as an Ambassador for the Council will enable her to take on new responsibilities, such as mentoring future participants and acting as a Young Leader.

When asked what she is most looking forward to Hattie replied:

‘Meeting plenty of other people and discussing issues which are important to me. But I must say I am also really looking forward to in-person council meetings which will hopefully be happening in the near future. The School, and particularly my German teacher, were incredibly supportive during my application, and I cannot thank them enough for all their help.’

The MFL Department would like to congratulate Hattie on this excellent achievement, and we wish her a very productive and enjoyable year.
