Year 4 pupil Nritya has had her artwork selected to feature in this year’s Royal Academy of Arts’ Young Artists’ Summer Exhibition.

Open to pupils aged 4–19 from across the UK, 478 artworks were chosen for the exhibition from over 21,000 entries, including Nritya’s amazingly creative piece ’Surprise’.

In Art, we’ve been looking at emotions and how facial expressions can reflect how people feel, which can help us to understand them better. I chose ‘surprise’ because it’s a feeling I get when something unexpected happens.

- Nritya, Year 4

Our judges were overwhelmed by the passion, insight and skill in the artworks they saw, and all expressed how difficult it was selecting the 478 artworks now exhibited online.
